WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT CLINICAL APPROACH
These approaches look at how your mind processes information and how that shapes your day-to-day life.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Rewires your thinking patterns. It helps you notice negative or unhelpful thoughts, challenge them, and change how you react to them.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Focuses on letting go of the struggle with difficult thoughts. Instead of fighting them, you learn to accept them, stop letting them control you, and choose actions based on what matters to you.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Excellent for intense emotions. It teaches concrete skills for managing distress, staying present, and handling relationship conflicts smoothly.
Focus on Emotions & Relationships
These approaches dive into your inner emotional world, your unique identity, and how you connect with others.
- Person-Centered Therapy: Pure, non-judgmental support. The therapist acts as an empathetic guide who believes you are the expert on your own life and provides a safe space for you to grow.
- Psychodynamic Therapy: Explores the "why" behind your patterns. It looks at your past, your childhood, and your unconscious mind to see how they are secretly driving your current behavior.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Maps out your emotional bonds. Often used for couples or family struggles, it identifies negative patterns in how you react to loved ones and helps build safer attachments.
Focus on the Body & Nervous System (Somatic)
These approaches acknowledge that trauma, stress, and anxiety are physically stored in the body, not just the mind.
- Somatic Experiencing: Tunes into bodily sensations. It helps you safely release the physical tension and "fight-or-flight" energy that your nervous system traps after stress or trauma.
What can I expect during our first session?
Your initial intake session is a space for us to hear your story, explore your values, and map out your goals. We will look at your mental health through a holistic lens—focusing on your unique biological design, emotional patterns, and relationships. It is entirely collaborative; you always set the pace.
What does your "faith-informed" approach mean?
At Salt Counseling-TX, we operate from a grace-filled, Christian worldview that celebrates the unique craftsmanship of every individual. If you choose, we can seamlessly weave spiritual tools (like scripture reflection, prayer, or processing religious conditioning) into your care. However, this is always driven by your personal comfort. We respect your individual autonomy and welcome clients from all backgrounds exactly as they are.
How do I complete my paperwork?
Everything is handled digitally to simplify your experience! Once you schedule your session, you will receive a link to your secure SimplePractice Client Portal. Please complete our unified Master Clinical Agreement and intake questionnaire at least 24 hours prior to our appointment so we can dedicate our entire face-to-face time to you.
Can I switch between in-person and online sessions?
Yes! We utilize a hybrid model. Your intake packet includes a telehealth consent form, which means you have the flexibility to switch an in-person session to a secure video platform if unexpected scheduling issues, family needs, or illnesses arise. Please note: To comply with state licensing boards, you must be physically located in Texas during any virtual session.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you practice good stewardship of our shared time. If you need to reschedule or cancel your session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid being charged the full private-pay session rate.
